Darren Bent - New Lease Of Life At Sunderland

It has been a strange career for Darren Bent. After landing himself a big transfer to Spurs, the world was at the striker's feet and a potential England squad place looked inevitable, especially since he continued to score at White Hart Lane. But somehow, Bent was never fancied by Harry Redknapp and after a season to forget since the ex-Portsmouth manager went to Spurs, he grabbed his chance to move to Sunderland when Steve Bruce came a-calling. It was to spark a fantastic goalscoring run that appears not to stop with his latest two goals against Wolves last night at the Stadium of Light. The first was a dodgy penalty that was awarded against some strong evidence that it should not have been, but Bent put it away calmly to give his side the lead. Bent then won a second penalty that Kenwyne Jones converted for the side's two goal lead soon after halftime. While that quickly whittled away under some Wolves persistence, Bent then finally added the gloss to the night for the Sunderland strikers when he added the side's 5th and his second goal on the night near the end off a lucky deflection off the unfortunate Michael Mancienne. Perhaps this would lead England manager Fabio Capello to not rule him out for a place in his squad and with his work rate much higher than that of Michael Owen's, he could be ahead of the queue.

Catch up on some of the highlights of what was an exciting game between Sunderland and Wolves that showcased Darren Bent's clinical finishing:
